Hello Inc. has newly released “Respo by AutoReserve Reservation Ledger” (hereafter, Respo Reservation Ledger) and began full-scale operation in June.
For this interview, we spoke with Zenshi Suikōan, a restaurant that has been using the Respo Reservation Ledger since it first became available. Located in Minato Ward, it is an extremely popular establishment with reservations fully booked several months in advance.
Suikōan is currently in the process of switching from the reservation ledger they had mainly been using up to now to the Respo Reservation Ledger. We asked them about their impressions of using it and how they make use of it.

To be honest, the feature I found easiest to use was the so‑called “block” function, which lets you stop accepting reservations only for specific dates and times. Our previous reservation ledger didn’t have any blocking function like that.
You can place blocks with a single button, so the controls are easy to use.

— At Suikōan, you’re planning to move fully over to the forR reservation ledger from now on. Do you have any concerns?
Our current reservation ledger contains a lot of customer information. I’m worried about whether we can transfer all of this data, and whether the migration work will be difficult.

Flexible customization to match your store’s needs
— At our company, we flexibly customize the reservation ledger by adding or removing functions to match our customers’ needs. Some time has passed since implementation; have you noticed any changes in how easy it is to use?

If we can fine-tune the detailed design, I think it will become even easier to use. For example, if the color changed according to reservation status, like “fully booked in red,” it would be nice because you could grasp the schedule at a glance.
Also, right now we only accept reservations for two groups per day, so on the reservation screen it just shows a simple format like “Part 1: ● people.” After we move, we plan to increase the number of seats, so it would be very helpful if we could display more detailed information such as “Counter seats: ● groups, ● people, ● guests.”

We have two full-time employees.

Our non-regular employees work on an irregular schedule, but if you gather everyone together, there are five of us. Suikōan had been run by just one person since it opened in 2015, but we’ve been increasing our staff since around this spring.
— Suikōan is planning to relocate this summer, right? Is this relocation also related to the increase in staff?

However, recently—and thankfully—the number of customers has been increasing, and we’ve come to need more staff to handle that.
If we’re going to hire new staff, we need to provide a suitable working environment. On top of that, as our staff has grown, the current shop has started to feel cramped, so since around the end of last year we’ve been moving forward with plans to relocate. I feel that, for Suikōan, this is the right timing to move on to the next phase.
—So, will your next shop be larger than this one?
I think it will be a bit bigger than it is now, but there won’t be any major changes.

If we make the restaurant larger, it’s easier for things to get bottlenecked. More importantly, we need to build a system that lets us serve high-quality dishes and put the customers right in front of us first.
