This time, we spoke with Ms. Takahashi, the owner of Mimosa Café in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, which opened in January 2023. Although she was initially uneasy about handling machines, she felt it would be impossible to manage everything alone, so she decided to start using Respo Self-Order and the Respo Reservation Ledger from the day the café opened. Their sincere, hands-on support was the deciding factor in our decision to implement it.

— Please tell me about your shop.
Drawing on my experience raising three children and working at a daycare center, I felt a growing desire to create a place where mothers raising children could drop by easily, and that led me to open this space.
The shop is fully equipped with a kids’ room, so it’s a space where parents can relax while their children play. Local grandmothers also sometimes get together here for their own little girls’ gatherings.
Our popular kids’ lunch plate and kids’ sandwiches are designed to look so appealing that children will want to eat them, and we often hear parents say, “They won’t eat this at home, but they’ll eat it here.”

— Please tell us why you decided to consider implementing Respo Self-Order and the Respo Reservation Ledger.
It was my first time opening a restaurant, and since I’d be running it alone, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to handle everything like taking orders, cooking, and doing the checkout by myself. That’s what got me started. I looked up several companies online, including AutoReserve, and since the fees were reasonable, I decided to contact AutoReserve.
--- What was the deciding factor in choosing to implement it?
The biggest deciding factor was how genuinely attentive and supportive they were. I wasn’t confident with handling machines, and since it was my first time opening a shop, I was anxious about everything. In the midst of all that, I was truly grateful for the warm, human communication they offered.
After opening, whenever something comes up that I don’t understand, it’s very reassuring that they respond right away when I call. Thanks to their attentive support not only before implementation but also afterward, I’ve recently been able to register things like new menu items on my own!

—How do you feel about using Respo Self-Order and the Respo Reservation Ledger?
Both are easy to use, so I got used to them quickly. In particular, the Respo reservation ledger is convenient because everything can be managed digitally and it makes it easy to keep track of schedules. We do have to enter phone reservations and reservations from other gourmet sites manually, but reservations made through the AutoReserve store page are reflected automatically. So we’re hoping to create a good user flow that will increase the number of reservations coming through our AutoReserve store page.
Also, reservations made through other gourmet sites incur a fixed fee per person, but reservations made through AutoReserve don’t have any fees, which is really helpful.
Regarding Respo Self-Order, there are times when I take orders directly, but it’s difficult when we’re busy, and in those moments I really feel, “I’m glad we decided to introduce it.” Many of our customers are parents in their 30s, so they seem quite used to placing orders themselves. Since they place their orders smoothly, I think it’s also very easy for customers to use.

We’d like to use the Respo reservation ledger for workshops and child‑rearing support events as well.

— Do you have any plans for the future of the shop?
We’d like to increase our daytime business even more. At our shop, we occasionally hold family-friendly workshops and markets, and starting in 2024, we’re also planning to host a child‑rearing support event called “Mama School.” I opened this café because I wanted to support people who are raising children, so I’d like to create more opportunities for moms to connect with each other through events and the like. I’m also thinking it would be great if we could use the Respo reservation ledger for taking bookings for those events as well.
— What kind of stores would you like to recommend Respo Self-Order and the Respo Reservation Ledger to?
I feel the same way myself, but I imagine there are people who feel uneasy or lack confidence when it comes to handling machines and are therefore hesitant to introduce them. Of course, you’ll want to pay close attention to how easy the system is to use and how much it costs, but having a company that offers sincere, hands-on support gives you a completely different level of reassurance. From that perspective as well, I can recommend Respo Self-Order and the Respo Reservation Ledger.
